In Agios Nikolaos (9 km) you can find 24-hour health center, pharmacy, police station and in Nikiti (11km) there are Super Market, bank and a post office.

Historical Data

Vourvourou, was inhabited since ancient times. This is testified by the ruins of the pre byzantine church of St. Andrew, found on the island of Diasporos. Remarkable is also the great wall, fortification of unknown age, which blocked the communicating between the backbone of Sithonia and the rest of Halkidiki.

In the 10th century the area referred to as the “Land of Vourvourion” and was given to the Holy Monastery of Xenophon on Mount Athos during the Byzantine Empire. In 1615 the inhabitants of Agios Nikolaos became the owners of the area. In the late 19th century the Monastery Simonos Petras sold the region to Russian monks, but they were expelled by the inhabitants of Agios Nikolaos. The latter remained the sole owners of the area.
